FREE NAMI ST. JOSEPH COUNTY SPRING 2010 EDUCATION COURSES
Family-to-Family is for family members, caregivers and friends of someone 18 years or older who has a mental health condition. Class topics include understanding mental illness, symptoms, medications, coping/communication skills, community resources, self-care and support to help give the needed emotional support to those in need. Classes begin March 9th and will meet from 6:30-9:00 p.m. every Tuesday evening for 11 weeks. Call 574-259-3564 to register.
A new course, NAMI Basics is for parents, grandparents and caregivers of children and adolescents who have an emotional disorder or a mental health condition. Class topics include information on treatment and therapy, communication/listening skills, and dealing with school situations. Classes begin March 16th and will meet from 6:30-9:00 p.m. every Tuesday evening for 6 weeks. Call 574-259-3564 to register.
Both courses are offered in the South Bend area. Class size is limited. Registration is required and the course location will be given at that time.
Upcoming Support Group highlights:
- The general support group meeting, for consumers and family members, meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Madison Center Sunshine Clubhouse in South Bend.
- In addition, NAMI Connection, for consumers only, meets every Wednesday either as a stand-alone meeting or as part of the general support meeting.
